Keynote address from the AMI

In this session you will learn:

Mortgage Adviser Event is delighted to welcome Stephanie Charman, the newly appointed Chair of the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI), to deliver the keynote address at this year’s Mortgage Adviser Event in London. This will be Stephanie’s first keynote address in her new role, offering brokers a unique opportunity to hear her view of our industry and how the AMI plans to support advisers through the next chapter of change.

This session will explore the current state of the mortgage market and what lies ahead for brokers, with a look at how inflation, interest rates, and the cost-of-living crisis are shaping consumer behaviour and remortgage activity. It will also examine how brokers can evolve their value proposition - identifying overlooked demographics such as self-employed and later-life borrowers and expanding the scope of advice brokers offer through products like protection.

The session will also cover the shifting regulatory landscape, including reflections on the first year of Consumer Duty and anticipated policy developments affecting landlords and the BTL sector. With AMI playing a key role in championing brokers’ interests, the keynote will highlight how the association is supporting advisers through change. Finally, Stephanie will look ahead to the future of the profession -addressing how we attract new talent, improve diversity and inclusion, and position mortgage advice as a career of choice.
